Sempa is an AI coach. To coach you it reads things you share with it — conversations you choose to record, messages at work if you connect them, what you type to it. This page says exactly what it takes, what it does with it, who else sees it, how long it keeps it, and how to make it stop.

The short version. Sempa only reads what you hand it: a recording you started, an account you connected, a message you typed. Audio is deleted as soon as it has been transcribed. Your email and chats are analysed and never stored. Photos you send are never stored. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used to train anyone's models. You can have all of it deleted by asking.

Who we are

Sempa is run by Lopie Development, LLC (“Lopie”). Write to hello@heysempa.com about anything on this page, including a request to delete your data. The rules for using Sempa are in the Terms of Service.

Sempa is in a small, free alpha. That matters for privacy in one specific way, called out below: during the alpha we keep the text of your recordings for longer than we otherwise would, so a coach can check that Sempa read them correctly.

How you get an account

You do not sign yourself up. A coach sets up a place for you and sends an invitation with a one-time pairing code. When you enter that code the app is tied to you. We hold your name, your work email address, and the topic you are being coached on, because your coach gave them to us.

What Sempa collects, and why

WhatWhyHow long
Recordings you start
audio
To turn speech into text so Sempa can coach you on the conversation. Deleted as soon as it is transcribed. We do not keep the audio.
The transcript
text of the recording
So Sempa can read the conversation, and so a coach can check it read it correctly. Kept during the alpha. You can delete any recording from the Recordings tab, which deletes its transcript.
Google
recent Gmail conversations, Google Calendar events
Only if you connect it. To coach you on how you communicate. The connection is read-only — Sempa cannot send, change or delete anything, and never reads attachments. Not stored. The text is analysed and discarded. Only short notes about patterns are kept.
Microsoft 365
recent Outlook email, Teams chats, calendar entries
Only if you connect it. To coach you on how you communicate. The connection is read-only — Sempa cannot send, change or delete anything. Not stored. The text is analysed and discarded. Only short notes about patterns are kept.
Your chat with Sempa
messages you type
So the conversation makes sense from one message to the next. The last 40 messages.
Photos you send in chat So Sempa can look at something you are asking about. Never stored. Read for that one message. We keep only your caption and a count.
Claude chats
if you choose to share them
To coach you on how you work with AI. Kept during the alpha. Only what you chose to send.
What Sempa concludes
notes, goals, progress
This is the coaching. It is the point of the product. Kept while you are being coached. You can see it in the app and dispute anything that is wrong.
The phone itself
a device token, a name you give the phone, a notification token
To keep you signed in and to send notifications you turned on. Until you unpair. Tokens are stored only as hashes.
Error reports To find crashes. Short-lived operational logs.

Sempa has no advertising, no analytics SDK, and no tracking across other apps or websites. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with data brokers.

Recording other people

A recording captures everyone in the room, not just you. Sempa never records on its own: a recording starts only when you press record, and the app shows it is recording while it runs.

Whether you may record a conversation is your responsibility and depends on where you and the other people are. Many places require everyone to agree first. Tell the people you are with, and get their agreement, before you start. Do not record anything confidential, privileged, or covered by a rule your employer has set.

Who else sees it

Sempa is built on other companies' services. They process your data to provide those services and nothing else. None of them use it to train their models.

Your coach sees your coaching. That is the arrangement you joined: the person coaching you can see your recordings' transcripts, what Sempa concluded, and your progress. They cannot see your Microsoft 365 or Google messages, which are never stored.

Google user data. Sempa's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In plain words: what we read from your Gmail and Google Calendar is used only to give you the coaching you turned on. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, and no person reads it — it is analysed by software and discarded. The only others who process it are the services listed above, to run that analysis for us, and none of them train their models on it.

Where it is stored

In the United States, on Amazon Web Services. If you are outside the United States, using Sempa means your data is processed there.

Your choices

In the app

By asking

You can delete everything yourself in the app: Settings, Your data, Delete my data. The delete your data page explains exactly what goes. Or write to hello@heysempa.com to get a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted for you. We will act on a deletion request within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection regulator; we honour these requests wherever you are, not only where the law compels it.

Children

Sempa is a workplace coaching tool for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Pairing codes are single-use and expire. Device tokens are stored only as hashes, so a copy of our database does not let anyone sign in as you. Access to production data is limited to the people who run Sempa.

No system is perfect. If you find a security problem, please write to hello@heysempa.com rather than posting it publicly, and we will fix it.

Changes

If we change how Sempa handles your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell you directly rather than relying on you noticing.

Questions, or a request to see or delete your data: hello@heysempa.com.
